Many businesses create their invoices in one tool and keep their books in Tally. The bridge between the two is often a person who re-types every voucher at month end. Tally integration removes that step. This guide explains how it works and how to set it up so the books stay right.

Who wrote this guide

The EZ Solutions team wrote this guide. Our system integration team builds connections to Tally, and BillDo and ProjectBook export entries to Tally. For the billing side, read billing data for Tally.

How does Tally integration work?

The most common method is an XML export. The business software creates a file that describes each voucher: its date, party, items, taxes and amounts. The accountant imports the file into Tally, which creates the vouchers in the right company. A live connection can push entries without a file, but an export with review suits most businesses.

What data can move into Tally?

  • Sales and purchase invoices, with GST details.
  • Credit and debit notes.
  • Receipts and payments against parties.
  • Journal entries for expenses and adjustments.

What is ledger mapping?

Tally keeps every party and account as a ledger. The integration needs a map from the software’s customers, suppliers, tax types and accounts to the matching Tally ledger names. Set the map once, check the names letter by letter, and keep it updated when a new ledger is created.

How are GST details handled?

Each voucher should carry the party’s GSTIN, the place of supply, the tax rates and the amounts of CGST, SGST or IGST. If these are exported correctly, the accountant’s GST reports match the invoices without manual correction.

How do duplicates and errors get avoided?

  1. Give every voucher a unique number and export it once.
  2. Show a preview before importing, with totals by day.
  3. Keep a log of what was exported and when.
  4. Reconcile totals between the software and Tally after each import.

Reliable behaviour matters in every connection, as described in API integration.

Who should do the import?

The accountant, normally. They know the company, the financial year and the ledgers. The software should make that import quick and predictable rather than silent.

How EZ Solutions builds Tally exports

The team maps ledgers with the accountant, builds the export, tests it on a sample month and documents the steps. Related payment flows are covered in payment gateway integration.
